Sign painting is a dying art around the world, once in abundance on store windows, building walls, billboards, and in grocery stores and just about any place you'd find lettered design. Today you can find it being slowly replaced by newer, more efficient methods. It is a very precise skill that can sometimes take years to master, yet is often overlooked and under-appreciated. Films like The Sign Painter Movie are aimed at documenting these artisans and their work.
This store window series is my homage to the art and to the businesses and buildings it graces. Each design is hand-painted onto the glass of a new or rescued picture frame.
